Advanced Fines Notification Services
Advanced Fine Notification (AFN) is a free Alphabet service, where we send an automated email to notify you and your driver that a vehicle-related fine has been received and processed by us. Further information regarding Advanced Fine Notifications can be found in our guide.
If you'd like to register for this service, please complete the form and our team will set it up for you.
Avoiding Fines
Alphabet have compiled recent trend analysis and have seen a continuous increase in fines issued, particularly around penalty charge notices (PCNs) relating to parking infringements. Local authorities have also increased fines issued. Here are some tips to help you avoid receiving a fine:
Frequently Asked Questions
The fine notification you have received outlines how we will process the fine on your behalf – no immediate action is necessary. If you need further guidance, please get in touch using our webform below.
Alphabet will not appeal this directly on your behalf. Please refer back to the notice which will outline the appeals procedure with the given issuing authority.
Appeals can still be made with the issuing authority, at their discretion, providing the grounds for the appeal are sufficient.
When Alphabet actions a fine notice, either paying it or transferring liability, this incurs an administration fee (if applicable). The administration fee is £14.40 including VAT.
We will raise an invoice in order to recharge the amount to your vehicles account and notify you of the direct debit payment date.
Further photo or video evidence can often be viewed by visiting the fine issuing authority website. You would need to enter the vehicle registration and fine reference number in order to access this.
If your appeal is successful, please request written confirmation of the cancellation from the Issuing Authority directly, in the form of an email or letter, and send this over to our Vehicle Admin team.
If the fine is paid by Alphabet the issuing authority will process a refund back to Alphabet, which will be raised back to you once received. The refunded cost will include any relevant administration fees.
We will pay and recharge fines in instances where the issuing authority does not accept a transfer of liability or where specific fine rules have been set up by yourself or your employer requesting us to do so.
